Senior Management Team
Aspects and Milestones Trust has a Senior Management Team of five people.
Mel Akers, Chief Executive
Mel’s background has been in local authority social services departments and the
Probation Service. He became Chief Executive of Aspects and Milestones Trust in 1995.
The charity has grown five fold in that time and now has a turnover of £26 million
per annum. He has found it ‘liberating’ working in the voluntary sector, after
years in local government and is very committed to the development of the voluntary sector
and making sure its voice is heard locally and nationally. Other interests include travel
and jazz.
Paul Butler, Company Secretary/Head of Finance
A Chartered Accountant and Chartered Secretary, Paul joined the Trust in 2001 as Head
of Finance. He originally trained in Local Government, working for Direct Service Contractors
providing a range of services from Civil Engineering and Build Maintenance, to Catering
and Cleaning.
Paul provides accounting and Independent Examiner services to a variety of small charities on a voluntary basis.

Jim Conley, Head of Mental Health
JIm joined Aspects and Milestones Trust in 2005 as Head of Mental Health. He has a Bachelor
of Arts in Psychology from the Texas State University and an MSc in Social Work from Columbia
University in New York. Jim worked in New York for seven years helping homeless people
into supported housing and back into employment. He moved to England in 2003 and worked
for Oxfordshire County Council's Specialist Addiction Services.
He is also the Chair of the Bristol Mental Health Employment Forum and has an interest in music, travel and the great outdoors.
Anna Hicks, Head of Human Resources
Anna is a Chartered HR Professional who has been employed by the Trust for four
years taking up post as the Head of Human Resources in September 2006.
Before joining the Trust, Anna worked within the private sector for 15 years in various management, personnel and training roles.
